I. Determine enlistment status (active or retired)
a) If your Sponsor is Active Duty you will need to enroll in the Exceptional Family Member Program and then enroll in the Extended Health Care Option through Tricare in order to have your services covered under the Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration.
b) If retired continue to next step.
II. Get an ASD diagnosis from an approved Tricare Diagnosing Provider
There are two ways to obtain the diagnosis:
a) A Primary Care Physician (if it comes from your PCP, you must complete testing/evaluation within one year by a Specialized Diagnosing Provider)
b) A Specialized Diagnosing Provider: This is a doctor who is board certified or board eligible in:
i. Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics
ii. Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics
iii. Pediatric Neurology
iv. Adult or Child Psychiatry
v. Doctoral Level Licensed Child Psychologist
III. Obtain a referral from your diagnosing physician
a) They will submit this to Tricare, you can request NoCal Behavioral Services, LLC at this time.
b) Or, you can call your Tricare Case Manager once the referral is submitted and request us then.
IV. Call NoCal Behavioral Services to Schedule an Intake.
a)Intakes occur over the phone and typically last about 20 – 25 minutes
V. Complete Intake.
Be prepared to provide information on your child’s skill sets, goals for treatment and the following information:
a) Child’s Date of Birth
b) Child’s Social Security Number
c) Sponsor Date of Birth
d) Sponsor Social
e) Diagnosing AND Primary Care Physician name and contact information
f) Any information regarding previous ABA Therapy (if any)
VI. You will receive Consent to Services forms once the intake is completed.
a) You must fill these out in their entirety and submitted back to us.
VII. While you are completing the Consent forms we will be conducting an eligibility check and insurance verification with TriCare to be sure you are covered for services.
VIII. Once we receive your forms back we will pair you with a BCBA that best fits your family needs.
IX. The BCBA will call to schedule your initial assessment.
