ABA Therapy – Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy

CACD – Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration

  • This is the portion of TriCare that covers ABA Therapy

EFMP – Exceptional Family Member Program

  • If your Sponsor is active duty you must enroll in EFMP to qualify for ECHO coverage.

ECHO – Extended Health Care Option

  • All Active Duty Family Members who want their ABA Therapy Covered by TriCare must be enrolled in the ECHO program.

RBT – Registered Behavior Technician

  • Registered with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • Has completed 40 hours of online training
  • Has completed a Competency Assessment one on one with a BCBA
  • Has passed a comprehensive exam administered in person by the BACB

BCBA – Board Certified Behavior Analyst

  • Has either a Master’s or Doctorate in a Psychology field
  • Has completed graduate coursework in behavior analysis
  • Has passed the Behavior Analyst Certification Board exam

Respite Care – Short term care that provides temporary relief to caregivers. This may be covered for you through TriCare if you qualify. Tricare.mil/respite covers the qualifications and who to apply to get respite care.

IEP – Individualized Education Plan

  • This plan is created at public schools with parents, the school board, the child’s teacher and any other therapists involved in the child’s life. Schools MUST follow the IEP set forth to help the child succeed in the classroom setting.
